The Twinkie Diet Just in Time for Christmas

Hello my fellow eggnog and gingerbread lovers!

I thought it would be an appropriate time to talk about the best ways to save yourself some shameful nights of pinching at a few extra inches of skin folds in the new year. Something that grabbed my attention a few weeks ago was an article done on CNN about a nutrition professor in the states who went on a diet consisting of Twinkies and other junk foods. One of the interesting things about this was that he actually LOST WEIGHT!

Now before you blow a gasket or run to the nearest convenience store lets talk about this. I think a few points to be brought up is we are unsure about what exactly our 'nutty proffesor' was eating as a normal diet before. I would hazard to guess he was still eating a fairly 'grain centered' diet. Which if you haven't heard makes most people break out with huge bumps on there ass and stomachs (fat). Also, another point to take away is that he did not change his activity content our amount. From my experience working with teenage athletes who commonly start training with us on a similar Twinkie diet, it is very quickly apparent that to perform well, recover properly and gain positive benefit from training you have to eat quality foods.

Now to the point, what we should really take away from this story is that calorie ranges and timing is so important that you can actually gain a lot of benefit without even picking healthier foods. AND if you combine calorie adherence with a steady influx of quality food and training you will be lean and mean in no time.

SO REMEMBER THIS CHRISTMAS, WHEN YOU SAY TO YOURSELF "I HAVE ALREADY ATE POORLY I MIGHT AS WELL JUST KEEP GOING AND BURN IT OFF IN THE NEW YEAR." YOU ARE JUST KIDDING YOURSELF! MODERATION OF EVEN BAD FOODS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
